tethered to earth
watching sleep
come and go

a kite so high
it disappears

wrinkles in time
who is this stranger
with my voice

the veins
in my hands

worn rivers
and tributaries
so many routes

to the sea

Cynthia Anderson

lives in the Mojave Desert.
