I awake
to staccato
moon cries—
my newborn
grandson,
emitting yelps
that shake
hair cells
hidden within
my inner ear,
loosing rivers of
oxytocin—
my daughter
rises, cries are
quelled, while
I lie, unable
to stop smiling
at this bald
hooligan,
who’s thieved
the silver dollars
of my night.
