The rainmaker knew that as soon as he was out of the city limits, the sky would hemorrhage and he would have to pull to the side of the road and wait out the storm, his epic road trip ruined. Just his luck: it happened every time he went on a trip. As he loaded his backpack, tent, sleeping bag, camping stove, bottles of water, cans of beans and beer, and a packet of beef jerky into the car, the crowd watched him, unsure if they should pray or cheer, having paid him in advance.
