Prose Poem: 119 words
By Charlotte Hamrick

Eyeballed at the County Fair

The Ferris wheel flounced in a dance that night, the hot air hovered in our faces that night, carny music muffled & swelled that night, I thought the unknown would be exciting. The familiar felt far away that night, stars studded my eyes that night, your breath lay heavy on my neck that night, I thought the unknown would be exciting. Free spins dizzied my head that night, you signaled stop at the apex that night, your hands moved like sharks that night, I thought the unknown would be exciting. Fear fluttered in my gut that night, escape defied gravity that night, we were hunter & hunted that night, I thought the unknown would be exciting.
