The initial forecast was for the tropical storm to develop into a hurricane, but Jerry had other plans. It was like an episode of Seinfeld—plenty of potential but a lack of sustained focus. Maybe the scrutiny was too much. As storms go it became disheveled and couldn’t coordinate the rain and winds. Jerry degenerated into a trough and dissipated as a post-potential tropical depression.
