Tipping the King

“Where do 60 years together go when she’s gone,” Walt wonders. “If there are angels on earth, call them Nurses.”

You’ve never beaten Walt at chess.

Today’s looking no different.

You move.

Hospice gazing, he tips his king. It rolls on its side, Queen still standing.

Any day now.
