Rich Man, Poor Man

Now that I am hooked on birding, I want to expand my field of vision, add range, sharpness, and more vibrant colors than I can get with these beginner’s binoculars. I consider purchasing much more powerful binoculars, which I can also use for viewing the night sky, until I see the astronomical price tags.

Like that distant flock of geese, too far to see clearly, honking as if to move the slower traffic along or out of the way, it seems that a pair of top-of-the-line binoculars will also remain out of my range.

a seagull
glides over the treetops
heading due east
even I know the ocean
is in the other direction
