MacQueen’s Quinterly: Knock-your-socks-off Art and Literature
Issue 17: 29 Jan. 2023
Haibun: 58 words
By Subir Ningthouja

With the window open, a stillness pervades my office desk as morning edges into noon. Two mating dragonflies settle on the pen-stand.

I study the curve of their bodies’ union, pick up my phone to take a snap. While I’m grappling with focus, they fly off, still united.

earth day
a love song sung
in silence
